Preface

This concise English-Ukrainian dictionary of economic, financial and business terms has been completed because of a compelling need for such a publication not only in the English speaking world but also in Ukraine at this time.

Teachers and student , who were trained in socialist economics, were not exposed to basic terminology of Western economic theory . Now , with the independence of Ukraine , and with the emerging interest in the construction of a free market economic system, the need for knowledge of terminology of free market system for Ukrainians is essential.

It is my hope that this dictionary , which concentrates on words and terms most frequently used in business , finance, and economics, will fill this need at this critical time.In addition to economic and financial terms and their explanations, included are also words and phrases which may be of use to businessmen, when dealing with business or trade problems.

The Ukrainian equivalents to English words are those that correspond mostly to business and economic usage. For other meanings of an English word, a general dictionary should be consulted.
